Happy Birthday, Sally!

Sally Ride, the first American woman to go into space, was born on this day in 1951 in Encino, California. Ride was a member of the space shuttle Challenger crew. Launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida, on June 18, 1983, the Challenger landed six days later at Edwards Air Force Base in California.
