Friend
Changed
I have had a friend since first grade. Now, in fourth grade,
she is very different from first grade. I want to tell her I don’t
want to hang out with her anymore, but I can’t get her to
understand. Please help me!

Everyone changes over time, but it can be hard to see a friend
change so much that you no longer want to be around her. Perhaps
this friend is not aware of what she is doing or saying that bothers
you. Talking with her about it may give you a chance to save the
friendship.
If
you do discuss this with her, try to speak calmly and politely.
Tell her your feelings, and don’t blame her. Also, give
her a chance to express her thoughts, and be sure to listen carefully.
Listening is one of the best ways to understand how someone else
is feeling.
After
you’ve done these things, you may still want to end the
friendship. If you decide to do this, tell her kindly but firmly.
Best
wishes,
