How to Make It:

  1. Cut off and discard one of the long sides from a clean half-gallon carton.

  2. Fold down the top of the carton, trim it so that it’s as flat as possible, then tape it in place.

  3. Cover the outside of the carton with construction paper.

  4. From white paper, cut out two 3 1/2-inch squares and one 3 1/2-inch-by-7 1/2 inch rectangle. Color underwater scenes on them. Glue them on the inside “walls” of the carton.

  5. Color the inside bottom of the carton a sandy color.

  6. Draw a few fish on poster board and cut them out. Use markers to add details.

  7. Punch a hole through the top of each fish. Tie string through the holes, and tape the strings to the inside top of the carton.

  8. Glue shells onto the inside bottom of the carton.
