What You’ll Need:
- cereal box
- assorted paper
- scissors
- glue
- pencil
- plate
- marker
- metal fastener
- three pinecones
- three pushpins
- yarn
- tape
How to Make It:
-
Cover a cereal box with brown paper. Cut a door in the back that’s large enough for your hand to fit through.
-
Cut a small door near the top of the box on the front. Add a paper latch. Through the door in the back, glue heavy paper behind the small door to block the opening.
-
For the clockface, trace around a plate onto white paper and cut out the shape. Use a marker to add regular or Roman numerals.
-
From paper, cut out leaves and other decorations. Use a marker to add details.
-
Glue the clockface and the decorations onto the front of the box.
-
Cut out a long hand and a short hand from heavy black paper. Use a metal fastener to attach them to the clockface.
-
Cut out a paper cuckoo to fit behind the small door. Use markers to add details. To make a spring, accordion-fold a strip of paper. Glue one end to the cuckoo and the other end behind the small door.
-
Collect three pinecones. Place a pushpin in each one. Tie yarn around each pushpin. Tape the yarn ends to the bottom of the box.
-
Tape a yarn hanger on the back of the clock.
