Paper-Plate Blimp

What You’ll Need:

• two paper plates
• scissors
• aluminum foil
• tape
• stapler
• hole punch
• yarn
• newspaper
• glue
• empty gelatin box
• paper
• clothespins
• decorations
• markers

How to Make It:

1. Hold two paper plates together, front to front, and cut them into the shape of a football. Cover the two shapes with aluminum foil.

2. Cut four tail-fin shapes. Tape one at the top and one at the bottom of one blimp shape. Place the two silver shapes together and staple around the outer edge, leaving an opening for stuffing.

3. Make a hole at the top of the blimp. Thread yarn through the hole to make a hanger. Stuff the blimp with crumpled newspaper and then staple the opening closed. Glue the remaining two fin shapes to the sides.

4. To make the blimp cabin, cut an empty gelatin box in half and cover one half with paper. Cut a V shape from each side. The blimp will slide into the V cuts. Once the cabin is in place, glue it to the blimp. Use clothespins to hold it in place while the glue dries.

5. Decorate the cabin, and add a message for each side of your blimp.
