What You’ll Need:
- cylindrical cardboard container
- glue
- construction paper
- hole punch
- heavy yarn
- scissors
- decorations
How to Make It:
-
Remove the lid from a cylindrical cardboard container (the kind in which oatmeal, corn meal, or grits are sold).
-
Punch holes on opposite sides of the container, low enough so that the lid won’t cover them.
-
To make a handle, cut a 1 1/2-foot-long piece of heavy yarn and thread the ends into the holes you just made. Tie a knot on each end inside the container so that the yarn will not slip out. Cut off any excess yarn. If you don’t have heavy yarn, you can make your own by braiding together three pieces of regular yarn.
-
Decorate the outside of the container.
-
Keep art supplies (such as pens, crayons, glue, and scissors) inside your art box.
