How to Make It:

  1. Cut three 5-inch-by-7-inch rectangles from cardboard. Glue construction paper to the front and back of two of them or paint them.

  2. Draw a frame on the third rectangle by measuring a half-inch in from the edges. Cut out the frame. (It might be easier to cut off each edge of the frame separately so that it is cut into four strips).

  3. Glue construction paper to the frame or paint it, then let it dry. Glue the frame to one of the other rectangles.

  4. Tape the edge of the first rectangle to the one with the glued-on frame so that they open like a book (with the frame in the middle). This will be your puzzle box.

  5. To make the puzzle, draw a simple design on the piece of cardboard from which the frame was cut. Cut out the pieces, and color or paint them. Arrange them in the box.
