How to Make It:

  1. With an adult’s help, saw an angle at one end of a 13-inch-long, half-inch-thick wooden dowel.

  2. Glue a spring-type clothespin on the angled end, with the clip part down. Let it dry.

  3. Use acrylic paints to paint the dowel, the clothespin, and a large plastic cup. Cut giraffe ears and spots from felt, and glue them on. Add wiggle eyes.

  4. Place the dowel in the cup. Holding the dowel upright in one hand, fill the cup with small rocks. Leave an inch of space at the top.

  5. To hold the rocks in place, cut a large piece of foil, mold it into a circle, and press it on top of the rocks around the dowel.

  6. Glue the circle of felt on top of the foil. Add spots.

  7. On an index card, print “Recipe Holder—This little giraffe will keep things neat—while you are making good things to eat!” Clip it in the giraffes mouth.
