What You’ll Need:
- ten pop-off frozen-juice-can lids
- hammer
- thin and thick nails
- pencil
- 9-inch-wide plate or pot
- plain and corrugated cardboard
- scissors
- tape
- tacky craft glue
- markers
How to Make It:
-
Collect ten frozen-juice-can lids (the kind that pop off).
-
Ask an adult to use a hammer and a thick nail to make a hole in the center of each lid.
-
Trace
around a 9-inch-wide plate or pot onto a plain piece
of cardboard. Cut out the circle. -
Cut out a 1½-inch-by-27-inch strip of corrugated cardboard (or tape two shorter pieces together).
-
On the strip, draw five 3-inch-by-5/8-inch slots with 1½ inches between them. (Start by drawing the middle slot in the center of the strip.) Cut out the slots.
-
Bend the strip and use tacky craft glue to attach it inside the edge of the cardboard circle.
-
Carefully push a thin 1½-inch-long nail through the cardboard above each slot, then through the holes in two lids, then through the cardboard below the slot. Place tape over the nail heads.
-
Use markers to decorate the tambourine.
