Uncle Sam Hat

What You’ll Need:

• stapler
• seven egg-carton lids
• pencil
• scissors
• red, white, and blue paper
• glue

How to Make It:

1. Staple seven egg-carton lids side by side, connecting the first and last cartons to make a circle.

2. Trace around the egg-carton circle onto cardboard two times. Cut out one cardboard circle, cover it with white paper, and glue it to one end of the cartons to make the top of the hat. Add two inches all the way around the second circle and cut around this larger circle. Then cut out and discard the inside circle. Cover the ring-shaped piece with white paper and glue it to the bottom of the hat to make the hat brim.

3. Cut ¾-inch strips of red, white, and blue paper and glue them around the hat above the brim as a hat band. Cut out red, white, and blue stars and glue them around the band. Decorate the brim and top of the hat, if you’d like.
