What You’ll Need:
- scissors
- two plastic two-liter bottles
- thin cardboard
- paper-towel tube
- pencil
- tape
- decorations
- glue
- toy car or marble
How to Make It:
-
With
an adult’s help, cut the top and bottom off two
plastic two-liter bottles, keeping the middle pieces.
Overlap the two middles end to end so that the tower
is at least eleven inches tall. -
Cut
out six 4-inch circles from thin cardboard. Trace a
center hole in each of these circles using the end of
a paper-towel tube as a guide. Cut straight across each
circle to the tracing of the center hole, then cut out
the inner circle. -
Overlap and tape the ends of the six doughnut-shaped circles, and spiral them around the paper-towel tube, taping as you go.
-
Decorate
the tube, then insert it into the plastic tower. Secure
the tube in the tower, then tape or glue the two pieces
of the tower together. -
If you’d like, make a top and bottom for the spiral roadway using additional circles with space cut out for the entrance and exit of the car.
-
To play, place a toy car or marble at the top and let it roll down the spiral to the bottom.
