How to Make It:

  1. Craft ImageCover a paper-towel roll with red, white, and blue paper. On the white section, draw a window with an astronaut waving.

  2. Use one peak from the bottom of an egg carton for the rocket top. Paint it white and glue it to the inside top of the spaceship.

  3. Cut around four egg-carton peaks to make the launch pad. Glue on cotton balls for smoke and construction paper for flames.

  4. Craft ImageTo add disappearing flames to the spaceship, cut two large flames out of construction paper.

  5. Add a 1½-by½-inch strip of paper to
the end of each flame. Double-fold the strips so that they look like Z’s and glue the ends to the inside bottom of the spaceship so that when they are double-folded, just the tips of the flames can be seen. When the spaceship launches, pull the flames down.
