Coffee-Can Drum

What You’ll Need:

• can opener
• clean, empty coffee can
• colored paper
• glue or tape
• 6-inch paper plate
• water
• rubber bands

How to Make It:

1. With an adult's help, use a can opener to remove the bottom of a clean, empty coffee can.

2. Wrap colored paper to cover the can. Glue or tape it in place.

3. Dip a 6-inch paper plate in water for ten seconds. Shake off the extra water. Center the plate over one end of the can. Press the edges down, and secure the plate in place with a rubber band.

4. Repeat step 3 for the other end of the can. Lay the drum on its side to dry.

5. Tap your fingers against the drum.
