What You’ll Need:
- scissors
- thick cardboard
- hole punch
- water
- white glue
- white paper towels
- needle
- sandpaper
- colored tissue paper
- paintbrush
- permanent marker
- clear nail polish
- cord or ribbon
How to Make It:
-
Cut a small piece from thick cardboard. Use a hole punch to make a hole in the top center.
-
Cover the cardboard with torn strips of white paper towels that have been dipped in a mixture that is half water and half white glue. Be sure to smooth out all air bubbles. Keep adding layers until the pendant is about one-eighth inch thick. With an adult’s help, poke through the paper towels with a needle to expose the hole.
-
Let the pendant dry completely. Then smooth the surface with sandpaper.
-
Tear shapes from colored tissue paper. Glue them to the dry pendant, using a paintbrush and a fresh mixture of water and glue. When dry, add any decorative lines or dots with permanent marker.
-
To protect the design, paint the front and edges of the pendant with clear nail polish. When dry, paint the back side with the polish.
-
Finish by stringing the pendant on cord or ribbon.
