Carla also helped answer some of the approximately 35,000 postal-mail letters that kids send to Highlights every year. “We answer every letter we receive from our readers,” says Carla. She and the other editors at Highlights have given kids advice about teasing, friendship, family, pets, and school situations.

Carla has her master’s degree from the New School University in New York, NY, where she studied children and the media and where she learned how to create fun online activities for kids. She has also studied political science at the University of Rochester and has studied bassoon at Eastman School of Music.

Besides playing bassoon, Carla’s favorite activities are playing disc golf and writing.
