Sneaky Sounds

Can you always tell where a sound is coming from? What about with your eyes closed?

What to Do

Ask a a friend to sit with eyes closed as you move around quietly and snap your fingers at various places. Can your friend point to the spot where each snap came from?

How It Works

The ears often pick up the same sound at slightly different times because one ear is farther away than the other. Then the brain can figure out where the sound came from.
