    The city is loud,
    the city is big,
    with crowds of people
    walking on the streets.
    The city has everything
    except the silence.

    Fairies

    I believe in fairies.
Did you know they paint the berries?
    And also the butterflies.
But they’re not hiding in pies.
    Some make pixie dust.

    Riding my bike all summer
Out in the sun all day
    Baseball is so fun
    Enjoys going fishing
Riding in the boat on the lake
Taking a swim on a hot day

    I am a tree,
    Sturdy and tall.
I give food in the summer
And a home in the fall.
    I give blossoms in summer
    To butterflies blue,
    And nuts in the fall,
    That fall down to you.
    The sky is all red,
    With yellow and green.
    I’m a very old tree,
And there’s lots that I’ve seen.

    I Love Pets!

    Pets are the best!
They make me feel good and blessed.
    They are very cheerful
    And are almost never fearful.
Pets can be a help in sad times.
They will make you feel better
No matter what kind of weather.
    Pets bring lots of joy
    To many girls and boys.
    Pets are better than toys
    Making delightful noise!
    Pets are very unique.
They are goofy in their own way.
But often that is a treat!

(Inspired by the poem about the red wheelbarrow by William Carlos Williams)

                    “so much depends
                    upon”

                    a tiny flower
                    seed

                    wafting through the
                    air

                    then plopping itself
                    in

                    the fertile soil
                    and

                    blooming in the
                    sun

                    to become a
                    lily.

    The 50 stars
    stand for
    50 states,
    the 13 stripes
    stand for
    13 colonies,
    and the colors
      red
      white
      blue
    stand for
    the American flag’s
      freedom
        to
          you.

My own place is a tree house.
It is quiet as a mouse.
It is not a real place
Because I made it in my mind.
    It is in a tree,
    High as can be.
Also, it has a tire swing
    Just for me.

    A Poem About Shells

I wash up onto the shore.
I’m no longer on the ocean floor.

    We are all crowded together,
Changing the texture of the sand.

Some of us are split in two.
We are staring at something new.
What is so breezy and blue?
Oh, it must be the sky!

By my new home come creatures of all kinds,
Lines behind them as they wade,
    Water washing over them
    And soon they fade.

That’s all I have to say.

    The warm summer breeze blows
    as birds take flight.
    The white swans swim
    in the cool blue water.
An old tree’s brown branches lie
    peacefully while the leaves blow
    delicately in the wind.
Big white clouds in the sky.
    The mountains, tall and strong.
