    Rain falls
    Lightning strikes
    Thunder booms
    And that’s not nice
    It’s called weather
    It happens all the time
So it will be all right.

I stand up on the stage,
    One hand on the mic,
    The other holding Abby’s.
    We sing together
    Our favorite song
    That we’ve practiced
    For so long.
    The audience cheers
    When we stop the music.
    The noise is unbelievable
    At the fourth-grade
    Talent show.

    Pie is good
    Pie is great
It’s so much better than cake, cake, cake
Pie is yummy in my tummy
It’s more awesome than a possum.

    Summer

    Swimming
Up early so I can play
    Mom teaches me to swim
Maybe I will go to the beach
Every day is a good day
Rainy days are good days, too.

    For my dad

    This blazing candle
    will brighten your day
    when I’m in the
    Philippines, far away.
    If your day is
    dark and gloomy,
    my present will make it
    nice and bloomy.
    We love each other,
    you and me.
    Who loves the other more?
    Soon we’ll see.

    The monkeys are swinging
    when we walk by,
    while the birds fly
    up high in the sky.
    The tigers are trotting
    along the side,
    while the lion king
    walks by with great pride.

    Pencil,
    dancing and forming words,
    armed with a soft eraser,
    a sharp point,
    and a hard wooden covering.
Gets tired when point becomes stubby,
energy gets restored when it gets sharpened,
    and starts to dance again,
    forming words.
    A pencil’s life is peculiar:
    it gets shorter
    the more it gets used.

    Tomorrow will never come—
    Always a day away.
    Yesterday was never here.
    This is what I say:
    Today is here—every year—
    And every single day.

    Remember,
    Success was once failure,
    Friendship was once loneliness,
    Winning was once losing,
    Finding was once searching,
    Dying was once life,
    Success was once failure.
    Let it go on.

A candle, as it softly glows
In the darkness of the night,
A beacon like a scarlet rose,
A light like day so clear and bright.

A candle with its warming light,
A child with his birthday cake,
    On top five candles glow,
He leans toward them and starts to blow.

    The candle’s glow is gone,
    But soon it will return,
That cozy light of the candle
    As it will slowly burn.
