Fast and Careful

Dear Highlights,
People say I’m a fast runner, but my mom says I’m slow when I’m doing things like putting books away. What do I do?

Doing one thing quickly doesn’t mean you do everything fast. A person might be faster at reading than at writing, for example, or at making a snack than at eating it.

When you run, your goal is to be quick. For other activities, your goals may be different, such as being careful as you put books away. But it’s possible that you get distracted, too, which can make things take even longer.

Your mom can help you figure out how to be fast and careful.
