It might help to think about things you look forward to. Before you go to bed each night, make a list of five great things about the next day—a favorite activity, a friend you’ll see, the next chapter in a book you’re reading, and so on. List funny things, too, such as “Wear colorful socks.” As soon as you wake up, read your list.
Cheering up your morning routine can also put you in a better mood. Make a “morning mix” of upbeat songs to listen to as you start your day. And spend a few minutes each morning doing something that makes you happy, like petting your dog, eating by the window, or doing stretches.
