YOOR-oh-PELT-ah, “Europe’s shield”

Europelta was the earliest nodosaur found in Europe. Nodosaurs were armored dinosaurs that used back armor and shoulder spikes, rather than a tail club, as a defense against the big meat-eating dinosaurs that existed at the time.
