Mexican Horchata

Cinnamon adds a little spice to this tasty drink.

What You’ll Need
  • ¾ cup uncooked white rice
  • 8 cups of water
  • 1 ½ teaspoons cinnamon
  • ¾ teaspoon vanilla
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 1⁄8 cups milk
  • ½ cup sugar
What to Do
  1. Soak the rice in half the water overnight.
  2. Pour the rice-and-water mixture into a blender. Add cinnamon, vanilla, salt, milk, and sugar.

  3. Ask an adult to help you blend the mixture until the rice is broken down. Pour the mixture through a strainer and into a large pitcher.

  4. Add the rest of the water, stir well, and enjoy!
