Layer the sugar, cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt in the jar.
Place the chocolate chips, marshmallows, and pecan pieces into the plastic bag. Place the bag on top of the mixture in the jar.
Decorate the jar with ribbon.
Adult—Write the following recipe on a blank index card. Leave room around the edges for decorations. How to Make Rocky Road Brownies: 1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spray a 9-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. 2. Open the brownie mix. Remove the bag and set it aside. 3. Pour the brownie mix into a large bowl. Add ½ cup of melted butter, 2 eggs, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Stir until well blended. Spread the mixture in the prepared pan. 4. Bake 20–25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Sprinkle the chocolate-chip mixture over the top. Bake another 3–5 minutes or until the marshmallows are puffy and slightly browned. 5. Cool in the pan on a wire rack, then cut into squares. Makes 16 brownies.
Decorate the card with markers, crayons, or stickers.
Punch a hole in the corner of the recipe card.
Adult: Help your child thread a ribbon through the hole and tie the card to the jar.
